The purpose of these bells is rooted in an intriguing story. As the tale goes, an old gray-bearded biker was traveling back from Mexico on a cool desert night with a full moon. His saddlebags were filled with trinkets for his biker friends and children at home, and everything seemed perfect. However, he was unaware of the Gremlins lying in wait.

These mischievous Gremlins would set traps on the road or deploy invisible, devilish devices to break down the biker's bike. As the biker rounded a sharp turn, the Gremlins herded a coyote onto the road, causing the biker to skid and crash into a ditch. When he woke up, he saw the Gremlins moving towards him, and his saddlebag was torn off, lying beside him.

In a desperate attempt to fend off the Gremlins, the biker began throwing items from his saddlebag. Surprisingly, the only items that seemed to scare the Gremlins were the bells he had purchased for the children. Grabbing the bells, the biker discovered that the ringing sound confused and drove away the Gremlins.

Fortunately, a couple of fellow bikers heard the bells and followed the sound. They saw the biker in distress and yelled to frighten away any animals. The old gray-bearded biker was immensely grateful for the rescue and, as a gesture of appreciation, he cut some tassels from his saddlebag and used them to tie a bell to each of the bikers' bikes. He explained how the bells would warn off the Gremlins and, if they ever found themselves in trouble, they could ring the bell for help.
